Over the past five years, Morning Rain Publishing has been home to many first-time and emerging Canadian writers. Our authors are located across Canada and Mexico, coming from different backgrounds, experiences, and lifestyles.
We are fortunate to have connected with each of them and to have been part of their writing journeys.
MRP has published over twenty titles, including short story collections, novels, fantasy fiction, children’s fiction, and nonfiction. As a small business with no external funding, loans, or grants, we have worked on a skeletal budget with our editors and designers gifting their time to help create the best works possible.
To subsidize the traditional publishing aspect of our business, we opened to services, including editing, formatting, and cover design. These services have helped to pay for the website, stock image photos, design software, advertising, and the fees involved in attending festivals and conventions.
At this time, we believe the traditional branch of our publishing company is no longer viable. While we are confident in our ability to produce quality works, we are unable to market those works appropriately, which results in low sales and limited exposure.
With heavy hearts, we have made the decision to discontinue traditional publishing, which means releasing our authors from their publishing contracts.
As we move forward, we will continue to support MRP authors to ensure they have the resources to flourish in their writing careers. We have always considered our authors to be partners, and their success and growth is important to us.
